How I Help

If you have reservations about hypnotherapy, I understand. I used to feel this way too. I thought that hypnotherapy was about letting someone else control my mind, and there was no way I was going to let anyone mess with my head! Hypnotherapy isn’t about mind control, and it’s nothing ‘woo woo’ or weird.  I’ll try to explain it as simply as possible.

Hypnotherapy is therapy under hypnosis

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind somewhere between the alpha and theta brainwave state. From my experience I would say it’s the same state of consciousness as the flow state, present moment awareness, mindfulness, or meditation.

In this state your mind is very calm, present and open. You have access to the present (your conscious mind), your past memories (subconscious mind), and your superconscious or ‘enlightened’ mind, which enables you to create new solutions and gain greater insights and understanding of the problems or challenges you’re facing.

From this superconscious state, you’re able to gain greater clarity about what you want and what you don’t want in your life so you can make the best choices for yourself moving forward. Hypnotherapy is both enlightening and empowering.

How my sessions work

I use tools from life coaching, hypnotherapy, and cognitive behavioural therapy in my sessions to help you to find the insights and answers you need to move forward in your life in the best possible way.

The way I take you through a hypnotherapy process is by leading you on a journey through your own mind, and asking questions for you to find your own answers within. I may offer insights or suggestions, which you can accept or reject.

Discovering your own truth – those ‘aha’ moments – is hugely empowering and enlightening.

A big part of life coaching is asking great questions that really get you thinking about and exploring your life in ways you’ve never done before. I like to draw models and diagrams to help you understand various concepts that you can then add to your own personal toolbox.

Life-coaching framework combined with hypnotherapy can help you to see the big picture and define the specific goal that you want to achieve through your sessions with me. By incorporating CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), I can help you understand more about how you think and why you act the way you do.

CBT explores the connection between how you think and why you act or react in certain ways. Understanding your thinking process and the underlying beliefs, rules or cognitive distortions you’ve developed can help you to think about and view life from a more balanced perspective.

I never know how a session is going to unfold, as each one will be different depending on what is present for you at the time. My role is simply to guide you through the process to help you achieve your desired outcomes in a way that’s right for you.

I found her really easy to talk to and she helped me see how I could use my time better, trust my memory, and find the motivation I needed to study. I passed my next test with 100% and finished my year strongly.

I have only had two sessions of hypnotherapy with Helen but already I’m seeing changes in my behaviour and life patterns.  Day to day life does not feel so exhausting and I feel more relaxed in the things I do.  The sessions were very simple, easy to attend and relaxing.

Helen has helped me undertake an amazing journey of self-discovery.  During this journey I have learnt more and more about myself as Helen has helped me peel away the layers to allow me to really see myself clearly for the first time.  Helen has patiently but firmly guided me and by not allowing me to dodge the hard questions has made me at last be honest with myself.
